* Etapa to focus on water, sanitation expansion in US$93mn plan - Ecuador

Ecuadorian city Cuenca's water utility Etapa is focusing on expanding potable water and sanitation in the municipality's rural area to comply with the second phase of its master plan which will finish in 2012, Cuenca's mayor Paúl Granda told BNamericas.

The first phase of the master plan started in 2001.

The utility has expanded potable water services in urban areas, but coverage in rural areas must still be improved, Granda said.
