Houston-based AEI announced its subsidiary, Jaguar Energy Guatemala, has closed US$350mn in financing for a 300MW thermo plant near Puerto Quetzal.

A syndicate of banks led by Banca de Inversión Bancolombia Corporación Financiera and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration structured the financing, AEI said in a statement.

A notice to commence under an EPC contract with China Machine New Energy has been issued, with commercial operations due to begin in 2013.

Canadian oil company Petrominerales' (TSX: PMG) acquisition of Pan Andean Resources (AIM: PRE) is due to close on April 13, company CFO Corey Ruttan told BNamericas.

Petrominerales in December 2009 announced the US$31.1mn transaction, which involves acquiring interests in Colombia's Antorcha block and Peruvian blocks 114, 131, 141 and 161,

The five areas span a combined 6.8M gross acres (2.75Mha, 2.7Mha net).

* Foundry industry output to total 3Mt in 2010, says trade group - Brazil

Brazilian foundry association Abifa expects its member companies to produce some 3Mt this year compared to 2.3Mt in 2009, when the sector was severely impacted by the global crisis, Abifa president Devanir Brichesi said during a conference in São Paulo.

In 2009, output declined 31% from 3.4Mt in 2008. Revenues fell 37% to US$6.9bn from US$11bn.

Revenues this year are expected to reach some US$9bn, according to Brichesi.

* DP World criticizes delays over Muelle Norte proposal - Peru

Dubai-based port operator DP World has spoken out against the Peruvian government's slowness in handling the firm's US$1.3bn initiative to modernize Callao port's Muelle Norte terminal.

The government has yet to provide any feedback on or suggest changes to the proposal DP World submitted in 2008, but the proposal cannot be improved until the project is declared of public interest, according to the firm's general manager, Maciek Kwiatkowski.
