* Kallpa fires up new capacity at Chilca, adds 198MW - Peru

Peruvian generator Kallpa Generación has begun commercial operations of new capacity at its gas-fired plant in Chilca, south of Lima, Kallpa parent Inkia Energy CEO Javier García told BNamericas.

Grid operator COES authorized the start of operations after the supply of 198MW, which makes Chilca the largest thermo plant in the country with around 570MW, said García.

The official added that a combined cycle project to expand capacity at Chilca's three units continues on schedule.
