Gay Couples Save More for Retirement
Gay and lesbian couples retire with $5,785 more annual income, on average, than married heterosexual couples, probably because most gay couples have few if any children, according to calculations by Brighita Negrusa of the Rand Corporation and Sonia Oreffice of the Universidad de Alicante in Spain. The researchers' analysis, based on U.S. Census data, shows that homosexual couples tend to save more than heterosexual couples.
