Gays Outdo Straights in Online Involvement
Gay men and women are more engaged with online content and social media than heterosexuals, with 73% belonging to Facebook, 54% reading blogs, and 29% using Twitter, compared with 65%, 40%, and 15%, respectively, for straight people, according to a Harris Interactive survey of U.S. adults. Homosexuals have created a virtual community and marketplace online, says Bob Witeck, a consultant specializing in marketing to gays.
