Only 82% of U.S. Women Give Birth
18% of U.S. women now reach the end of their childbearing years without having given birth, up from 10% in the 1970s, according to Pew Research. But the rate has been holding steady over the past decade, and among women with advanced degrees, childbearing rates are on the rise: The number of such women ages 40-44 who hadn't given birth fell 7 percentage points between 1994 and 2008.
