Wal-Mart Goes All Out to Battle
$7,000 Fine
Wal-Mart has spent at least $2 million and filed motions and responses totaling nearly 400 pages fighting a $7,000 OSHA fine stemming from the death of a temp employee in a 2008 shoppers' stampede, according to The New York Times. The federal agency, in response, has devoted 4,725 employee-hours to the case. The post-Thanksgiving crowd had been lined up at a Valley Stream, New York, store near a sign that said "Blitz Line Starts Here."
