| | Deep thinking required The Providence Public Library’s “Be Mindful” series continues with a lecture by Brown University Professor Willoughby Britton, who will speak on the topic “The Case of Mindfulness and Sleep.” The interest in adding mindfulness-based practices – which demand a conscious attentiveness of the subject during meditation and other states of mind – to address a broad range of conditions, such as insomnia, tobacco addiction, depression and traumatic injury, has seen a rapid increase in the past several years. In what is expected to be a lively discussion, Britton will describe results of the first longitudinal study that measured how meditation promotes and improves sleep.

| Solamente en Español If Spanish is a language you are interested in, have a working understanding of, or speak fluently, this event is a perfect way to experience the language through theatrical performance. Teatro ECAS is the only non-university Spanish-speaking theater and education organization in New England. For the past 5 years ECAS has been partnering with the Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre to showcase performances produced entirely in Spanish. ECAS celebrates its 10th annual Month of Theater with a performance directed by Francis Parra. “Señoritas a Disgusto” (“The Reluctant Mistress”), written by Mexican-born playwright Gonzalez Caballero, follows two spinster sisters who decide to supplement their income by renting out a room in their ancestral home. This causes a controversial stir in the mid-century, Mexican town. Tradition is further challenged when a younger man from the city moves in and turns a parochial view of the world upside down for almost all his neighbors.
LOCATION: The Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre, 172 Exchange St., Pawtucket. Saturday, March 27, 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 28, 3:30 p.m. $15 admission; $10 seniors, students. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit the Web site or call the box office (401) 270-6565.
